I dubbed one of the guest bedrooms in the Bachman’s Spring Idea House the Artistina Bedroom. It really is a bedroom designed for an artist – in this case, a little girl who loves to color and create and daydream.
The room was painted with Hirshfield’s 002 Elusive White.
The black band on the top and the bottom is just a simple border of black chalkboard paint.
The border dives into a solid wall painted with chalkboard paint which serves a creative purpose as you’ll see in a minute.
I love the exposed filament bulbs which serve as bedside lights suspended from the ceiling.
And now for the most awesome design element in the room…
A chalkboard headboard drawn entirely free hand buy Hirschfield’s own Dawn Feda.
That is quite something, isn’t it?
Here’s another angle…
And a few close-ups for those of you who want to give it a go at your house…
The chalkboard design inspiration also included some chalkboard paper wrapped books and a chalkboard painted floor lamp.
The covered book idea is super cute. In fact, a clever repurpose of chalkboard placements achieved this look.
Before I ever even stepped foot in the room, I was immediately drawn to the DIY Cherry Blossom inspired basket chandelier.
I love baskets.
Silk floral stems were added to tie the look to the room – specifically echoing the red flowers colored on the border paper.
The little side table (aka plant stand) was staged to incorporate a few more red accents including a pair of reading glasses and a mug. Of course, the teapot terrarium sends it right over the top.
Definitely, some sweet ideas for the little artist in your life.
