Girlfriend Lunches

Lunch with 6ftIs there anything more validating than having lunch with a girl friend?  A recent book touted girlfriend time as equally nourishing as husband time. In this post, I share how I build regular girlfriend lunches into my self-care and calendar.

Girlfriend Lunches

Spending time with girlfriends is one of my favorite life-giving activities. In terms of self care, I put this in my top ten. When I plan my self care activities, I try to schedule lunch with a girlfriend at least once a week.

I’ve learned not to let the kids prevent these gatherings – I just bring them along. Sometimes they hang out with us at our table. They also love to sit at the bar while we get a table nearby.  Lunch dates and coffees are great because they don’t cut into family and homework time in the evenings.

I often use my girlfriend lunches as a way to stay hip on technology.  I love comparing apps and I almost always bring my iPad for photo sharing, calendar syncing, etc.

One last tip…Don’t walk out of the restaurant without your planning your next lunch!  It will save you the hassle of coordinating the next one by text or email and keep your social self care plans on track.
