Goodwill Junking Trip Feb 2012

It’s Thursday, and that means it’s time for another Junky Judy shopping trip.

The best thing about junking, is finding the unexpected!  And, I certainly stumbled on some fun finds today.

Today I went to Goodwill in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Now, obviously each Goodwill has unique stuff. This Goodwill is a personal favorite and one reason for that is they carry brand new reading glasses (and sun glasses) for $3.99.

Lately, I can’t seem to keep track of any of my readers. Well, that’s not exactly true… My nightstand used to be the drop spot for hair clips, now it’s where my reading glasses go to hide. Bottom line, I want to get more of them and distribute them everywhere: the car, the kitchen, my office, the mudroom. Plus, I’ve taken to giving reading glasses to my girlfriends as gifts for almost any occasion. It’s a fun little gift for the price of a cup of coffee and who couldn’t use another pair of readers?

Other than that, I have a few other things I hope to find, but we’ll see where Lady Luck leads us…

Take a look at what I found

It was a great day at Goodwill. Some decent finds and I found plenty of reading glasses. My total bill was about $65.

Happy Valentines Day!

XOXO

One of my daughters is a great thrift store shopper. I need to get together with her and make a run. Thanks for the post.

Looks like you found some great buys there! I was just thinking today that maybe I could find canning jars at a thrift store so I may have to go shopping!

Michele – I know they always have a ton of canning jars. So fun.

Sounds like just the way to spend some time with my daughter who’s visiting this week. She loves to thrift!

Love finding those “junque” treasures! My weakness at the Goodwill is the children’s book aisle. I love finding unusual items to use as flower pots in the garden. Sheets and drapes are great for making Biblical costumes! Hmmm…might need to make a run tomorrow.

Hi Ruth. Yes, it’s always better to go with a list!

What a fun blog post. It’s always a delight to see what call’s for your attention when junking. The Egyptology book looks like fun. And you certainly made a scoring on those readers!

      Thanks, Deborah.

OMG. You are local! We should get a group together of bloggers from Michele’s forum and go Goodwill shopping. It would be a blast! Email me if that interests you!

    • 6ftmama on February 17, 2013 at 4:46 pm

That would be so fun! I nominate Michele to organize! We should at least meet for coffee and take advantage of the fact that we are all geographically close.

You have inspired me to go to the thrift store!!! You have to be in the mood to really look, and relax and go with the flow. you found some great stuff there!!!!! Estate sales coming up next!

    • 6ftmama on February 17, 2013 at 4:47 pm

Vickie – I love estate sales, too. I used to go when I didn’t have kids. I remember standing in line early for numbers. Much more fun with a girlfriend! Good luck on your next junking trip!
